Happy 100th Day!!

Happy 100th Day!!  What a fun day in 3rd grade!  The students had the choice to either dress up as a 100 year old, or wear 100 things! I love this student's outfit!  :)

These guys decided to sport a $100 bill.  :)

The students traveled to several stations during the morning.

I purchased the unit "100th day of School:  If I lived 100 years ago" by Teach123, and it was a great unit!  At this station, the students used Ipads to research important events that occurred 100 years ago in 1912. We found several interest facts...the South Pole was discovered and the Titantic sank on its fateful voyage.  The students had a great time!

A "Smart Cookie"  craft. Inside the students wrote about what they did not know on the first day of school and what they have learned at this point in the year!

A Readers' Theater about the 100th day of school...and.....finally... Party Time!!!! We ate cookies with decorated with "100" and popped 100 balloons!  What a day!

Performing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

The students did a great job performing the play "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".  Each child had a part, and we invited the Kindergarten classes down to watch our play!
Poor Rudolph...none of the other reindeer  would play with him. ..

Our sweet Kindergarten audience!

The elves were our narrators.

Packing Santa's sleigh

Santa's belly made me smile.  :)

Singing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"  with our audience.

Fun Painting Project!

In Science, we have been studying plants. Due to the fact that it is close to Christmas, we have also taken some extra time to study a very fun evergreen---the Christmas Tree!  :)  This was a fun project that I saw on Pinterest. The students did a fantastic job!!
First, the students drew a picture of a Christmas tree and then used a sponge to paint the tree green.

Next, it was time to use branches from my Christmas tree to add some dimension. The  students used the branches of the Fraser Fur just like a sponge.

This sweet girl created a beautiful winter tree scene!!

We also LOVED reading The Night Tree by Eve Bunting!

Disguise a Turkey!

The students did such a fantastic job with this project!  Each student was charged with being a costume designer for a turkey who is trying to "go unnoticed" during Thanksgiving. :)  Everyone was so creative!  They looked WONDERFUL!!
