U.S Symbols

In Social Studies, we are studying U.S. Symbols. So far, we have studied The Statue of Liberty, the Flag, The Liberty Bell, and the Bald Eagle. The students have had such a great time learning facts about these symbols of our country! These are the bald eagles that the students made. We have also been watching a live nest cam from an eagle's nest. We are hoping the eggs hatch soon! Hibernate with a Good Book!!

To conclude "B.E.A.R." (Be Excited About Reading) Week, Harrison Elementary celebrates with an all day read-a-thon. We have been enjoying books and learning about bears all week. For our read-a-thon, we built caves to hibernate with a good book!! The kids LOVED it!! Each student brought in a sheet and constructed the caves using the desks in our class. They then snuggled up with friends and a good book. It was a fun week of enjoying books.
Our classroom filled with "caves".

Shaving Cream Fun!!!

This week we practiced our Spelling words in a fun way!! Each child was given a tray with shaving cream and we practiced writing our Spelling and Vocabulary words! It was a fun time!

"Lunch Lady Light" visits our class!

Yummy!!! We were so lucky to have "Lunch Lady Light" visit our classroom. She is working hard with the other members of the Warsaw Community School Food Service staff to introduce more fresh fruits and vegetables into the lunch menu. Each student in class had the opportunity to participate in a "taste test". Many of the students found that they really enjoyed most of the fruits and vegetables even when they thought they wouldn't!! After the students sampled each of the fruits and veggies they recorded whether or not they liked what they tasted. Thank you, Mrs. Light!!

Ready to start tasting yummy fruits and veggies!
